The Other Thailand

Our story

Two people, a long table, and an island we did not expect to stay on.

The meyhane

A meyhane is not really a restaurant, and anyone who has sat in one knows it. It's an evening. Small plates arrive when they are ready. Glasses are refilled without being asked. Nobody presents anything. The room gets louder, then quieter, and at some point somebody says the thing they came to say.

We ran one together in Istanbul for years. It taught us the only thing we really know how to do, which is to hold a room full of people for a long evening and make it feel like nobody is working.

Eralp

Eralp travelled and lived in a lot of places before any of this. He fell in love with an American writer, Lauren Üngeldi. Then, on a trip that was supposed to be short, he fell in love with Koh Samui.

Most people who say that go home. He moved his whole family here instead. That is the part worth knowing when you are deciding whether to trust us with your wedding or your company. He did not choose this island as a business location. He chose it as the place his family lives.

Bekir

Bekir is the chef. He has worked in world-class kitchens around the world and in Istanbul, the kind where the standard is not negotiable and nobody is impressed by effort.

He brings that to a group dinner on a beach. The food at one of our events is not catering that was ordered in. It is his, and he is there.

Why Samui

We recognised it. The island runs on long evenings, shared tables, and people who know each other. It already worked the way we work.

Everything we build here comes out of that. The venues, the boats, the kitchens and the people who run them are relationships we have because we live here, not a supplier list we bought.

What we do with it

We design and run large-group experiences on Koh Samui. Weddings. Corporate gatherings, from a leadership meeting to a full conference. And help for people moving here, which is its own kind of arrival.

Each of those gets its own dedicated team and its own dedicated place, because a couple and a company need different questions asked of them.
